Why I started TechConnex.

A personal story about students, small businesses, and local opportunity.

A degree is no longer enough.

I started TechConnex because I care about what happens when local talent and local businesses are not given the support they need to grow.

As a computer science student, I am entering a job market where a degree is no longer enough. Students can graduate with the right skills and education but still struggle to get hired simply because they were never given the opportunity to gain real work experience.

Small businesses face a different challenge.

I kept hearing from small business owners in my community who understood how important technology was to their growth. They knew that automation, websites, data tools, and improved digital systems could help them grow, innovate, and stay competitive.

But many couldn't afford agency rates or full-time technology staff, and hiring an unknown freelancer could feel risky.

One business owner told me they would gladly hire a capable local student if there were a trusted way to find them and guide the project.

That's when I realized these weren't two separate problems. They were two sides of the same opportunity.

That is where TechConnex comes in.

TechConnex is a guided platform that connects local IT and computer science students seeking real-world experience with small businesses in need of affordable, reliable technology support.

We take the difficult part out - defining the project, setting a clear scope, vetting and matching qualified students, supervising the work, and managing the project from start to finish.

When local students rise and local businesses grow...

The whole community moves forward.
